Because of your generosity, our Foundation continues to make a lasting difference for Mercy’s patients, programs and services. In FY25, you helped us raise nearly $500,000 — and together, we allocated over $300,000 to improve the health of our community. This impact was made possible not only through this year’s gifts, but also through the strength of prior-year reserves and investment income. Thanks to you, we were ready to meet urgent needs with care and compassion.
Every year, lives are changed because donors like you stepped forward to give. This snapshot illustrates some of Mercy’s most critical fundraising initiatives that will benefit not only our patients and their families, but also our caregivers and our community.
$165K invested in housing for medical residents to strengthen the pipeline of skilled physicians who will care for our community as it grows
$1,000 awarded in scholarships to area graduating seniors to support their health care education
One ordinary afternoon, Matt and his 8-year-old son Caleb were finishing up their routine haircuts when Caleb quietly mentioned something that stopped Matt in his tracks:
“Hey, dad. I can see double of everything.”
At first, Matt wasn’t sure what to make of it. But something didn’t sit right. He scheduled an appointment for Caleb to see an eye doctor and things quickly escalated.
The eye doctor found something troubling at the back of Caleb’s eye and recommended a visit to his pediatrician, who ordered an MRI.
Time was critical. Matt made another call to a friend who worked in the Mercy Berryville ER. She arranged for Caleb to receive an MRI scan in the mobile unit that visited the hospital on a bi-weekly basis.
With her help and fast coordination, Caleb was in the mobile unit that very afternoon. The scan revealed a spot on Caleb’s brain, and a specialist referred the family to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Doctors at Children’s diagnosed Caleb with Behçet’s disease, a rare and chronic condition that can cause inflammation throughout the body, including the brain. Caleb is on a medication plan that’s helping stabilize the condition, but he and his dad still drive to Little Rock on a regular basis for treatment and check-ups.
Each year, hundreds of Berryville residents like Caleb must travel to Springdale or even farther to get the MRI scans they need. Every trip out of town requires added time, stress and expense. That’s why having a permanent MRI machine right here at Mercy Hospital Berryville isn’t just a convenience, it’s a lifeline.
Because of you, we’re bringing a more powerful, permanent MRI to our community so that patients like Caleb can get lifesaving answers faster, without waiting, driving or wondering. Thank you for your support!
