Congratulations to the 2023 Dr. Wade Shipman DASH Award Winners.

  • Ashley Laughlin, Physical Therapy Receptionist, Therapy Services – St. Robert
  • Desirey Prost, Charge RN, Oncology Infusion Center
  • Jennifer Wittmers, RN, Oncology Infusion Center

Every year, the Dr. Wade Shipman Endowment fund committee presents the DASH award and $1,000 to deserving Mercy co-workers. Dr. Shipman was a beloved physician at Mercy and the Dr. Wade Shipman Memorial Fund was established after Dr. Shipman passed away in 2015.

The DASH Award is a tribute to a man taken too soon who touched many lives and will never be forgotten. He had a smile that is well remembered. He was a teacher, a mentor, a friend, and a colleague to many co-workers within Mercy. His legacy continues with this award.  We honor him for taking time to teach, for making a difference and being a wonderful example of an excellent anesthesiologist and man who “Lived His DASH.

The DASH Award nominee carries out exceptional service to patients, families, and co-workers by:

  • Being hard working and dependable
  • Having a positive attitude
  • Listening and communicating in an effective manner
  • Creating a caring and compassionate environment to all they meet
  • Going above and beyond the normal work expectations
  • Providing exceptional service to those they come in contact with
  • Always putting the needs of others first

Just like Dr. Shipman, Ashley, Desirey and Jennifer are living their DASH.

About the Award Winners:

Ashley Laughlin

Physical Therapy Receptionist, Therapy Services – St. Robert

Her nominator said: Ashley puts the needs of others first. Ashley is always smiling; you would never know that you had interrupted her from another task. She makes every patient and staff member feel like they are the most important thing at the time of their interaction.

Desirey Prost, Charge RN, Oncology Infusion Center

Jennifer Wittmers, RN, Oncology Infusion Center

Their nominator said: I started working one on one with Desi and Jennifer in October 2017. Over the years I have been in awe and inspired. They are empathetic and compassionate to everyone. We all become more positive and grateful each time we work with them. Every person who meets them, just adore them. People come back to visit after they are in remission, or family members and caregivers of lost loved ones, to just say hello and catch up. The people are treated like an extension of their family. They are who I strive to be and one of the reasons I get up each day for work.
