On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Women with a Mission members in the east community enjoyed a festive tour of the State Capitol Building and Governors Mansion located in Jefferson City, Mo. Thirty women from Mercy Health Foundation Jefferson, South, St. Louis and Washington attended the event, which was organized by Mercy Health Foundation Jefferson. Senator Elaine Gannon led the group on a tour of the Capitol and First Lady Teresa Parson graciously hosted a tour at the Governors Mansion.
Striving to continue the legacy of Catherine McAuley, Women with a Mission combines resources, vision and passion for helping others to support and improve health care in our communities. Women with a Mission unites diverse women with a common goal: bringing high-quality health care to all people who need it, no matter where they live, no matter what they can afford.
This was one of the regional quarterly events for the Women with a Mission group, which are designed to bring all the communities together. Throughout the year, each community offers an event that invites all members to attend.
“These events offer a great way to gather as a group to grow relationships and introduce other Women who might want to join Women with a Mission in their community,” shares Andrew Held, executive director, Mercy Health Foundation. “Many activities have an educational component to them and others offer more of a social component or networking opportunity.”
Each community plans many activities for their members and potential members to attend. Once a year, members in each community gather locally for an allocation meeting, which allows them to hear the needs of many hospital areas and vote on where and how the funds they have raised through their membership will be used to support the mission of Mercy.
