Who We Are

“Let charity then be our badge of honor.”

– Catherine McAuley

Our Mission

As the Sisters of Mercy before us, we bring to life the healing ministry of Jesus through our compassionate care and exceptional service.

Our Purpose

Through collaborative partnerships, Mercy Health Foundation impacts the flourishing of our communities by inviting into our ministry those who have a passion to improve quality of life and make care accessible for all.

Our Heritage

Mercy was founded in gratitude.

When a young Irish woman named Catherine McAuley received an unexpected inheritance, she gave thanks to God and her benefactor. Catherine used those funds to open the first house of Mercy, serving impoverished women and children in Dublin.

Today, the mission Catherine began almost 200 years ago is stronger than ever.

Mercy Health Foundation Ministry Leaders

The Mercy Health Foundation Leadership team provides support and resources for all the local Foundations across Mercy’s ministry.

Donor Bill of Rights

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:
